Two School Levies on Feb 13 Special Election Ballot
The Shoreline School Board unanimously approved resolutions to place two four-year replacement levies on the February 13th special election ballot. Both levies would replace existing levies that expire this year. Of the levies, Proposition 1 would fund many important programs not fully supported by state funding, such as special education, nurses, counselors, librarians, and highly capable programs. Food and Teen Gift Card Drive!
From November 27th through December 8th , each classroom at Echo Lake will be collecting nonperishable food items as well as gift cards for teens ($15-$20) to help families in our community during the holiday season. This year, our school's goal is to collect  500 Units of Cooking Oil . (Other nonperishables are welcome and encouraged (NO GLASS)!!) Please do not donate large Costco-size 5 liter containers. We cannot accept large bulk sizes. We recommend standard 16-40 fluid ounces sizes of oil. The class to collect the most units of cooking oil will win an extra recess with Mr. Lohman! Echo Lake Read-A-Thon!
The Echo Lake Read-a-thon is happening now! The Read-a-Thon is an opportunity for students to read while raising funds for PTA sponsored programs at Echo Lake. Students challenge themselves to see how many minutes they can read in 20 days, and then collect pledges in support of their efforts while earning prizes. Money raised will go to support school programs and events such as movie night, teacher grants, classroom enrichment programs, field trips, and other opportunities our kids might not have without the extra funds raised by the PTA. Registration is open until August 18 for the Back to School Event. The Back to School event is a community effort that provides school supplies, haircuts, and clothing assistance for families in the Shoreline School District who are living with a low income and/or experiencing circumstances in their life that make it challenging to prepare their children for going back to school.
